Our multilingual team and local guides are trained in global etiquette and cultural awareness. Traveler Stories

My name is Amy, and I’m from Toronto, Canada. After years of living in that noisy city — subways, meetings, social media, the constant rush — I felt like my life was stuck on fast-forward. One late night, I scrolled through Reddit and saw a post that said: “When you come to China, you’ll be amazed by the rhythm that still exists between people and between humans and nature.” So I found Adeus, bought a one-way ticket, and the team planned a trip for me — away from big cities, into quieter corners of China where I could finally slow down. I landed in a small county in Sichuan. Birds woke me in the morning; mist drifted through the bamboo outside my window. I spent half a day in a teahouse, listening to old men chat and watching a puppy chase butterflies. Later, I took a train through the countryside, watching the fields, the passing villages, and children running on the ridges — a world so different from my city life. When I returned to Toronto, my urban anxiety had softened. I brought home a new memory: that life can, and should, move a little slower.

I had just ended a five-year relationship. Leaving the apartment we once shared, the empty rooms felt like they were whispering goodbye. To breathe again, I found ADEUS and booked a flight to China. Halfway through my trip, in Xi'an, I met an Australian backpacker named Andrew. We hit it off right away — talking about home, food, and the funny mistakes we made ordering noodles. We decided to travel together and ended up finishing the rest of my China journey side by side. We left each other our contacts before flying home. Weeks later, back in Australia, that handsome boy moved to my neighborhood. Now, we are go cycling together in the countryside outside Sydney. When the wind brushes my face, I remember that day in Xi'an. -- No one is so indispensable for others in this world.
