Day 01 :
Early Arrival · First Taste of Haikou’s Nanyang Charm

Arrive in Haikou in the early morning and head directly to your hotel near Qilou Old Street. After dropping your luggage, set off right away to catch Qilou Old Street in the quieter early hours: walk along Zhongshan Road and Shuixiangkou, see the relief arches and colorful window frames of the arcade buildings glowing warm in the morning light. Check in at an old-brand Hainan noodle shop at Shuixiangkou, order a hot bowl of dry-mixed Hainan rice noodles with a glass of iced salted lemon water to start your first Hainan taste experience. Step into an intangible cultural heritage exhibition hall inside the old street to admire coconut carving and Qiong opera costumes up close, and in the Huanhaige Art Space view Nanyang-style paintings in the morning light, feeling the quiet, artistic side of the old city.

In the late morning, head to the Hainan Museum, with a pre-booked free guided tour. Start at the “Nanning Sailing the South Seas” area to see ancient ship remains from the Maritime Silk Road, then move to the Li brocade and Miao embroidery section to feel the delicate textures of ethnic textile techniques, immersively understanding Hainan’s historical and cultural context.

In the afternoon, stroll through Wanlü Park, breathing the fresh air from the rich greenery and watching coconut trees sway in the wind; rent a bicycle and ride along the lakeside. Then go on to Qiongtai Academy, visiting the Kuixing Tower and lecture hall of this Qing-dynasty academy and feeling the cultural depth of Hainan’s highest ancient institution of learning.

In the evening, check in at the Hainan University South Gate Night Market, wander the everyday stalls around dusk, eat qingbuliang (Hainan-style sweet dessert soup) and assorted fried snacks, and pick up a bag of freshly cut mango. After dinner, return to Qilou Old Street, watch the lanterns light up, photograph the Nanyang-style night scenes, and feel the evening bustle of the coconut city.

Day 02 :
Haikou’s Natural Highlights · Slow Time in Volcano & Wetlands

Early in the morning, go to Haikou Volcanic Crater Park, walking the ring-mountain wooden boardwalk before crowds arrive to explore the ancient volcanic crater remains. See the unique landforms created by volcanic rock, and in the volcano science museum view rock specimens and eruption models—soft morning light makes panoramic photos of the crater especially beautiful.

Around midday, enjoy Shishan dairy-fed lamb hotpot at the foot of the volcano, with tender meat dipped in local yellow chili sauce for a truly local “volcano cuisine” flavor. Then continue to the Dongzhai Harbor Mangrove Tourist Area, taking an electric boat through this “sea forest.” In the morning, egrets often rest among the mangroves—watch birds skim across the water and then climb the Moon Tower to overlook the entire green sea of mangroves, feeling the vitality of the wetland ecosystem.

In the afternoon, return to the city and head to Mission Hills Volcanic Hot Spring Valley, soaking in themed pools inspired by the five continents. Choose the “coconut milk pool” or “flower-petal pool” to relax body and mind as the afternoon sun filters through the leaves onto the water’s edge. Towards evening, wander Mission Hills New Town, admire the Nanyang-style architecture, and stop at a laoba tea house to order a pineapple bun and coffee, experiencing Haikou’s laid-back afternoon tea.

In the evening, have dinner at Jufu’an Traditional Laoba Tea, ordering baskets of chicken feet, steamed pork ribs, and shrimp dumplings with a glass of lemon tea to feel Haikou’s slow-paced nighttime atmosphere. After dinner, stroll to Meishe River Wetland Park to enjoy the river and greenery under the night lights and savour a peaceful end to the day.

Day 03 :
Haikou → Sanya · Heading for Tropical Seaside Romance

Early in the morning, take a high-speed train from Haikou East Station to Sanya Station. On arrival, go straight to your hotel at Yalong Bay, drop your luggage, and head directly down to Yalong Bay Beach:

In the quiet morning, Yalong Bay has few people—walk barefoot on the fine white sand, step into the waves, and watch the golden light of sunrise shimmer across the sea. Rent a sun umbrella and lounge chair to sunbathe, gaze at the ocean, and enjoy the ease of a seaside morning.

Late in the morning, you can optionally visit Yalong Bay Tropical Paradise Forest Park. Take the sightseeing bus up the mountain in the cool early hours, walk the glass skywalk for sweeping views where mountains meet the sea, and check in at the “Bird’s Nest Resort,” filming location for If You Are the One 2. At the mountaintop café, order an iced coconut latte and watch the clouds drift by.

In the afternoon, return to Yalong Bay Beach, renting an e-bike to ride along the Coconut Dream Corridor coastal road. Listen to the wind rustling through the coconut leaves, and stop by Butterfly Valley for a visit to see colorful butterflies. In the evening, have dinner at the Baihua Valley Commercial Street near the beach, ordering Hainan Wenchang chicken to taste tropical flavors.

At night, go to the Sanya Bay Coconut Dream Promenade, watching the sunset glow dye the sea red—coconut trees silhouetted against the sky create a very romantic scene. Then browse the Yiheng Night Market, eating Lingshui sour rice noodles, grilled oysters, and buying tropical fruit while feeling the lively night atmosphere of Sanya.

Day 04 :
Sanya Island Exploration · Full Day on Wuzhizhou Island

Early in the morning, head to the Wuzhizhou Island Pier and catch the first ferry to Wuzhizhou Island. With fewer visitors in the early hours, the island is especially beautiful—stop first at the Lovers’ Bridge to photograph romantic sea views, watching the clear water and distant boats moving slowly across the surface.

In the morning, enjoy water activities on the island. For thrills, choose jet skiing; for a more relaxed option, go snorkeling to see tropical fish and coral reefs beneath the surface. Then visit Sunrise Rock, overlooking the whole island in the morning light and feeling the grandeur of the seascape.

At noon, have a simple seafood lunch at the Coral Hotel Restaurant on the island. After a short rest, spend the afternoon on a private-style beach, sunbathing on a lounger or shooting artistic seaside photos. As evening nears, watch the sunset from the beach—the afterglow spilling across the white sand and raising the mood to its peak.

Before 17:00, take the ferry back to the mainland. After returning to the city, have dinner at a riverside Hainan restaurant, ordering roast Wenchang chicken and coconut rice to savor authentic Hainan flavors. After dinner, stroll along Sanya Bay, watching the sea reflect city lights and enjoying the tranquil side of the seaside city.

Day 05 :
Sanya Culture & Fun · Atlantis + Tianya Haijiao

Early in the morning, go to the Atlantis Sanya Resort. With fewer visitors at this time, first explore The Lost Chambers Aquarium, where you can see 86,000 marine creatures and watch divers and sharks “dance” together in the Ambassador Lagoon, feeling the magic of the underwater world.

Late in the morning, if you’re traveling with children, head to Atlantis Aquaventure Waterpark to play on attractions such as the rapids river and the “Leap of Faith” slide for a full-on family water day. If you prefer relaxation, stay within the resort at Dolphin Bay to watch dolphin shows and enjoy the liveliness of marine animals.

In the afternoon, visit the Tianya Haijiao Scenic Area. With fewer people in the earlier hours, check in at the iconic “Tianya Rock” and “Haijiao Rock”, listening to the stories attached to each stone. You can take a sightseeing yacht out to sea or simply read and daydream in the seaside bookstore. Stay in the park to watch the sunset as the afterglow washes over the reefs, creating a powerful atmosphere.

In the evening, return to the city and have a seafood dinner near First Market, where you select your own fresh seafood and take it to a well-rated processing restaurant—recommended dishes include salt-and-pepper mantis shrimp and steamed grouper. After dinner, visit the Sanya International Duty Free City, admire the night scene, and shop for skincare products, feeling Sanya’s vibrant nightlife.

Day 06 :
Sanya → Haikou · Final Tastes and Memories Before Departure

Wake up naturally at your Sanya hotel and then head to West Island. Arrive in the early morning and wander West Island Fishing Village, admiring century-old coral stone houses and colorful fishing boats. Have a bowl of seafood noodles at the Fishing Village Breakfast Shop to feel the everyday bustle of island life at dawn.

Spend the rest of the morning walking along the West Island beach, stepping on the sand and into the waves, or rent a paddleboard for some water fun. Take the ferry back before 11:00; once in the city, pack your luggage and go to Sanya Station to take a high-speed train back to Haikou.

In the afternoon, after arriving in Haikou, if time allows, head again to the Hainan University South Gate Night Market to buy souvenirs, or enjoy one last Hainan meal at Wu Ribiao Garlic Spare Ribs on Qilou Old Street.
